If You’re Trying To Drop Ship, Here’s How Not To Get Ripped Off

:: Posted by Brian Glusman on 12-31-2009

Many people see drop shipping as a simple way to generate some extra income. The process is simple – you promote the products and make the sales, and the drop shipping company or wholesale source will deliver the merchandise straight to your customer. You are left void of having to keep large amount of items in a store somewhere and can run a very neat home business. In fact, all you need to do is find a dropshipper and you’re ready to go.

At least, that’s how it’s supposed to work. Unfortunately, in this economy, when you begin your search for the dropshipper of your dreams, you are likely to come across hundreds of potential businesses offering what appears to be a quality service. In most cases, however, this is not the case. As a potential business owner, you have to make sure to do some research to ensure that you are dealing with people with the right kind of business.

However, many people who have previously looked into drop shipping suppliers will tell you that the lists which are out there are often full of scam companies who will take your money and run. And even that’s just the bare bones of it. Many places will try to convince you that they are dropshippers, when in fact they too are just middlemen, who are taking a cut on the prices and eating into your profit.

The best way to ensure that you are not going to become the victim of one of these prices is to thoroughly research the market and discover what companies are available that supply an honest dropshipping service. Reputable companies will not charge you a large fee, nor will they have a ‘no returns’ policy. Check their email addresses and phone numbers also, real companies will be happy to answer your questions as they are genuinely and honestly wanting to conduct business with you.

Strong Foundations for Your Online Business

:: Posted by Brian Glusman on 11-14-2009

With the number of online businesses around growing daily, you want to ensure that your online business is one of the survivors and not just a flash in the pan tale of internet woe. The most important way to ensure that you do succeed is to lay strong foundations for your start-up and slowly build up a growing empire.

The first place to start is to find a great market to sell to. If you get this right, it can mean the difference between success and failure, and some of the best markets to sell to are the small ones carrying high demand. Finding a market is a case of patience and research, but it’s a process that many people neglect and it’s what ultimately causes their downfall.

Start by looking at other popular e-businesses, search Amazon to find popular merchandise and get a feel for the types of end users you would like to deal with. Once you have found something you would like to sell, search for competitors and gauge what you can do differently and what you can do better. The great thing about finding a competitor is that it is a signal that there is a market demand for the item. If there was no demand, your competitor would be out of business, so use this as an opportunity to do something better than your competitor offers.

The next step is to find a wholesale supplier of the commodities you want to offer. A wholesale supplier offers goods at the lowest prices which means that you are able to ascertain the level of your costs and ensure that you are selling at a price which makes your retailer viable. Finding out your estimated profit margin is often the driving force between hitting go, or going back to the drawing board and looking at a different opportunity.

Ensure your wholesale supplier is legit. Your business is only as good as the service you provide, and your service often relies of the provisions that your suppliers make to you. If you have a commodity that has high turnover and popular demand, you will want to ensure that your wholesale supplier can keep up with the demand and deliver on time to ensure that you can satisfy your customers and they don’t go elsewhere.

If you are looking into a market which offers bulkier items, or heavy items, it is a good idea to look into drop ship suppliers also. Utilizing a drop ship service means that the product goes directly from the warehouse to your customer, and this can eliminate a double handling cost between your supplier and you, and then you and your customer. One of the great advantages of this is that without this additional handling cost, you will be making more money.

After you have covered all these bases, you can be quite sure that you have laid the best plans for the start up of your business, you should then build upon these strategies and ascertain your marketing and sales strategies which will further enhance the success of your online business.

Online Business And E-Commerce Tips

:: Posted by Brian Glusman on 11-14-2009

With so many changes occuring in the world, workers being made unnecessary and the cost of living ever increasing, it’s no wonder that so many more people are exploring the possibility of starting an online business so that they can cash in on the internet while it is still a relatively young technology.

In fact, the internet is being used for a very wide range of purposes by people from all over the world and coming from all walks of life. Whether they are online to chat to friends, find out information or to go shopping, it’s growing in popularity every day and that’s something that you can take advantage of with your own online business.

The majority of people who are online are classed as customers, or users, people who are making use of services and information, rather than the people who are providing them. From banks to toy stores and everything in between, there are literally thousands of opportunities for e-commerce.

One of the best ways to use this boundless medium is to create an e-commerce business which retails items. This means that you sell merchandise in demand to your customers, and the best way to buy these items is through a wholesale supplier. Whether it is clothing or automotive merchandise, there is a wholesale supplier that can provide these merchandise to you and help you get your internet business off the ground.

The first step to starting out in internet retail is to find out which items that you would like to sell. It’s a good idea to select a niche from the range of wholesale commodities available, for example you might like to sell pet goods.

You should do a viability study for your online business, and make sure that you have a market of potential customers who will buy your wholesale merchandise. If you are offering merchandise low cost and they are authentic quality, you can pretty much be sure that there will be a set of customers waiting to buy them.

The next step in the process is to set up your internet retailer website. You can use a generic solution, or you can have a set store which is designed to meet your needs. Either way is fine as long as your customer can easily purchase goods from you without any hard to follow processes.

It’s probably a good idea to employ someone to setup your e-commerce website unless you have the skills to do it yourself. Another alternative is to investigate whether or not your wholesale supplier has an e-commerce solution that you can leverage from.

Once you have your online business setup, it’s time to go about finding your customers. Do some marketing and advertising in the right places and you will have a steady stream of visitors who make purchases from you on a regular basis. It should be your aim in online business to make as much money as possible with as little work as possible. The initial setup may take some hard work to get underway, and you may have to refine your processes until you find a solution that works for you, but e-commerce is definitely one of the most viable ways for you to make an income while working from home.

How To Start Your Online Business

:: Posted by Brian Glusman on 11-14-2009

Most people have heard of the dot com boom – the era when Internet business took off at an extraordinary rate and many companies folded from simply not thinking their processes through, or even just not being able to deliver on their potential. Even though this so-called boom is over, there is a still plenty of room to get in on online business, and in fact the large amount of people who are turning to this way of life and becoming extremely successful in the process is simply astounding.

The process of starting an e-business is quite simple. You buy a domain name, find some items to sell, set up a store and then you’re in business. The process of actually running an internet business, however, is slightly more complex – in fact Interness businesses appear and disappear at a faster rate than traditional businesses, simply because it is so easy to set up.

The majority of failures in the online retail world are attributed to a lack of preparation, planning and research, and with a little time spent on each, the Internet truly can offer one of the fastest ways to setup and profit from a great little business.

The genius of an e-business is that it knows no bounds. It is not hampered by its location and it can reach a far wider audience than any real world store. One of the other great things about this form of business is that the setup costs are next to nothing, which means that they offer a great opportunity to people wishing to get into business who may not have previously had the means to be able to do so.

So if you are thinking that this sounds appealing to you, what should you do to ensure that your business becomes a success rather than one of the thousands of internet failures?

The first step in the process is to go through a planning and research stage. This means that you should brainstorm ideas of the type of market you would like to service, the goods that are available to this market and who you’re competitors will be. You should also figure out what your unique selling point will be, or rather what will make customers purchase from you rather than your opposition.

Secondly, and most importantly, you need to locate your products. You will want to use the services of a wholesale supplier or a drop shipper, as then you can be assured that you are getting the lowest cost products available.

Once you have found your wholesale supplier, you need to setup your online store and offer the goods for sale. You can sell via auctions or via fixed prices in your own store – it’s entirely up to you as long as your customers will be paying more than the cost of the goods from your wholesale supplier.

Lastly, you need to promote your products and services. Without marketing, your customers won’t know you exist, and so won’t be able to make purchases from you – and it’s these purchases that are exactly what you need to make sure your business is successful.

Return of a Costco Contract by an Exclusive Customer – Label Sanitation and Preventing Fraud

:: Posted by Brian Glusman on 11-14-2009

You will need to get acquainted with some more terms if you still have an interest in an exclusive contract for customer returns with Costco.  In Part 1, I discussed the matter of obtaining a contract, who you’ll need to contact, and the expectations when picking up Costco customer returns when it comes to wholesale liquidation.

Real liquidation goes further than just an early pickup time. Because you are a liquidator, the responsibility to protect your supplier from fraud on a return with label sanitation lies with you.  Original suppliers, Costco in this case, expect to never have to deal with a good once it’s fully liquidated.  This is the way you make certain this happens.

Return Fraud on Liquidated Products

Having a salvaged item brought back to the front end of their return desks is the last thing that any Costco wants to happen.  As fraudulent as this sounds, it’s not hard to do and does happen often.  You might ask yourself “How does something like this happen?”.

1. Salvage batches are sold to a contracted liquidator by Costco. That wholesale liquidator then sells those customer returned products.  The customer returns get resold in case groups, to a retail store, or sometimes on eBay or flea markets.  The customer who bought the salvaged customer return then pays a visit to their local Costco so that they can get a full compensation.  They can do this even if they don’t provide the store receipt, because of the forgiving refund policy which honors them with store credit or an exchange for a newer item.

For example, a customer-returned camera can end up in the hands of someone deceitful for as low as $60.00.  Then they will take it to a Costco for a refund, and the refunded amount for that camera can be as high as $199 and above.  Although they may not get a full settlement, in-store credit obtained by fraudulent means is still stealing from Costco, and any other outlet.

Prevent

It is the task of a liquidator to stop fraud returns.  Because, why would Costco want to sell returns just to have them re-returned? Any easy label sanitation method will conclusively stop any return fraud thieves.

*Remove anything that may lead back to the original source. Store stickers and sale tacks may often be placed on the items themselves.  There are a few Costco exclusive brands, like Kirkland. Be aware of brands are clearly from Costco and make sure to handle them with care.  This is where you need to be very careful– draw the black line using a permanent marker on the bar code so that customer return agents cannot scan an item back in.  Don’t damage or remove the serial or model number.  That is a signal the property is stolen, not liquidated.

Tricks and Tips for Label Sanitation

It is a lot of work to perform label sanitation.  Ensure that the contract with Costco, or whatever retail outlet your contact is with, clearly lists your duties of label sanitation. Make priorities between high-risk and low-risk customer returns.  Liquidated items like paper goods, household staples, and food have a low personal gain if returned so it is not likely they will be returned.  There are numerous red flag classes on customer return fraud, like:

*Clothing

*Electronics

*Appliances

*Watches/Jewelry

All labels must be sanitized especially high risk categories like clothing, electronics, jewelry, and appliances.  Disabling a bar code can be done fairy easily and quickly with a black permanent marker.  To denote that they are of returned status the clothing tags should be marked with a black slash on the brand name.  When the clothing tag is dark, you can use silver or gold permanent ink instead so it stands out.

Marking electronics and other large appliances with the word “SALVAGED” is another strategy you can try. You might see this done in grease pencil and other colored marking.  Be cautious when you submit to this practice.  First, make sure you are able to place this term near the model number in a inconspicuous manner or somewhere else that customer return agents might search for information. The reason being is that you still need to resell these things, whether to a discount retail market or another wholesale distributor. Wholesale buyers and customers are cautious when buying products and liquidated electronics when they are labeled “SALVAGED.”

The coming of effective strategies that stop customer return fraud is a valued service that you offer as a liquidator.  Large retail stores, such as Costco, will bring this up without a problem because it saves them from fraudulent returns.  It will take attention to detail when you handle label sanitation, but you will need to make sure you retain your ability to resell an item.  Lastly, you will show your supplier how valuable you are as a professional player of the industry because of your knowledge in label sanitation.

Raise Profits With Drop Shipping

:: Posted by Brian Glusman on 11-14-2009

While you cultivate your business, building a fresh concept and driving market demand will take most of your attention.  As your business grows and you start to look more strategically at your business plan, drop shipping can be a useful tool. Drop shipping can provide many opportunities to build and develop your business more effectively. Success in this high-tech environment depends on having an excellent relationship with your supplier, a fluid and continually growing catalog of goods and, of course, your profit margin.

Establishing the relationship with your drop shipping supplier is of utmost importance, helping you find approaches to steadily progress your business. You can take advantage from many new and exciting offers if you take the time to prove your sales and gain the trust of your drop ship supplier. Making your product a success online requires the awareness to find wholesale price breaks, opportunities to market your product and other exclusive deals to impact the bottom line in sales, profits and points. Your suppliers can give you critical information from other merchants on which products are skyrocketing and which products are failing. Creating a list of your top sellers can advise your marketing campaign more effectively, aiming for those products that can increase your sales and keep up to date with the most fashionable trends.

Drop shipping can help you create an incredibly vast product catalog, which can then become  a vital piece of your business model. If you’ve taken the time to develop your drop ship supplier relationships, the outcome will be an extensive and profitable product line. Having such a large, organized product line will lead to plentiful order sizes, greater conversion rates, and overall higher sales. Another benefit to having a trusted associate store inventory for you means you have the ability to modify your online catalog whenever you choose, allowing greater flexibility. This way, you can add best selling SKU’s whenever you choose instead of waiting for bulk deliveries to arrive. Such flexibility and availability will appeal your catalog to more and larger audiences.

Drop shipping will allow you to test new products and ideas without spending more valuable resources and saving you time and money. With all that extra time and money, you will have the resources to develop a brand new idea or product that can skyrocket your business! With a trustworthy drop ship supplier handling the tracking, packaging and shipping of your products, the possibility of, for example, establishing satellite offices becomes available. Drop shipping can drastically reduce your overhead, allowing for many more opportunities.

Your profits will soar when you use the drop shipping of your products. And instead of a single supplier, try to create a chain of drop shipping suppliers to enlarge your catalog even more, and widen the scope of your audiences. Minimizing overhead also comes with the added benefit of testing out new initiatives that will keep your business on the rise. If you plan to keep your business steadily growing and your product catalog huge, drop shipping should be the first thing on your mind.

Many people ask the question ‘how much money can you make as a dropshipper?’ and the answer to that question is like asking ‘how long is a piece of string?’ In fact, the money that you can make from dropshipping is directly related to how much work that you put into your business. While dropshipping is not actually a time consuming business to oversee, you do still have to make the effort in the initial stages to do some basic promotion and let people know that you exist so that they are able to order your products.

So can drop shipping be profitable business? Yes it can! In fact, it can be one of the most profitable businesses that you can be involved in. Once you have your drop shipping business set up, the majority of the work will actually be done by your wholesale supplier. They are the ones who keep the goods, who are responsible for the inventory and who pack and send the items to your customer.

How much money you can make as a dropshipper depends entirely on how many hits you can get to your site. The best thing for you to do is to try to find anxious buyers who are looking to buy the types of merchandise that you have listed. If you choose to set up your dropshipping business with a wholesale supplier that offers a vast selection of goods, it is far more convenient to make money than with a wholesaler that only offers one item. This is simply because, by having a wider selection, it is more likely that your customer will find something that they want to order on your e-business site.

Of course, the other plus to having a vast variety of items on offer is that your customers may choose to order more than one item. If you are getting great prices and service from your wholesale supplier, these additional purchases turn into more profit for you!

Another question people ask is can drop shipping be profitable if you are only doing it part time? Quite simply, yes it can. Because your wholesale supplier will do the majority of the work, drop shipping is a business that lends itself very well to the part time work industry. It will be easy for you to process orders in just a few hours each day, so you are still giving your customers excellent service, but it doesn’t have to take up your whole day.

The key to how much money can you make as a dropshipper is to find a reputable wholesale supplier that will work hand in hand with you to grow a successful business. By choosing the right wholesale source, you have succeeded at the hardest part of a dropshipping business.

This industry is very much in growth at the moment, and it’s a good opportunity for you to start up an online business offering something which there is a big demand for. Drop shipping using wholesale suppliers could just be the big business break that you have been searching for.

One of the latest trends for online business is using blind drop shipper directories to find dropshippers who can partner you in your business ventures. There are many different reasons why this is a great tactic for you, and we shall explain the advantages below.

You don’t have to stockpile items, you don’t have to take delivery of inventory and you don’t have the headache of packing and mailing products. These are fantastic reasons to have a nice easy business which you can run in your spare time.

Blind drop shipper lists are popular items as businesses are trying to find wholesale suppliers that can deliver items to their customers without indicating that they didn’t really come direct from the retailer. This gives customers the belief that they are doing business with a big retailer, while letting the retailer use some of the resources that the wholesaler has.

Of course, one of the negatives of these blind drop shipper directories is that they are often expensive and are not worth the amount of money which is charged for them. How Do I Start My Own Drop Shipping Business?

:: Posted by Brian Glusman on 11-13-2009

Are you like plenty of others and thinking you’d love to work from home, and wondering how to start my own drop ship business? Well, let us give you some advice about exactly what you can do, and advise you how to make a living drop shipping.

Just like any other internet business, the most critical task for you to do before you get started with your own drop ship business is to thoroughly research the market first.

If you were starting any other business, one of the major things that you would do would be to take some time doing market research to check that there is a demand for your service and that you are meeting the demand at the market price. That really means checking the potential of your company. The same goes if you are providing something on the internet as a drop shipper.

Another important thing that you need to look up is your competitors. There is no point in deciding how to set up your own dropship business if you don’t already know what your competitors are up to. Their practices can make or break your own business, so if they are selling the same quality service at a low price, you can guarantee customers will be flocking to them and not to you.

The next thing to understand is that using wholesalers are how to make money drop shipping. The difference between a wholesale supplier and a retailer is that you will be able to purchase your products far cheaper through a wholesaler. That means that there is more room for margin for you which should be your key goal for going into business.

It’s surprising just how many people ask how to make money dropshipping and the truth is that it’s not difficult. All you need to do is to make sure that the wholesale product you choose is easy to sell. Stay up to date with current trends and make sure that you know your competitors. It’s extremely easy to sell on eBay, in fact the hardest part that people find is fulfilling orders – which is where drop shipping comes in.

If you’re wondering ‘how to start my own dropship business’ then you’re on the right tracks. Drop shipping takes all the onus off you and places it onto the wholesale source. You don’t have to worry about pesky tasks like packaging and taking products to the post office, because your wholesale supplier will do all this for you!

The beauty of this is that you don’t need to have a huge inventory in stock, and worry about where to store it, you simply leverage off the wholesale suppliers resources and use them for yourself. It’s an ingenious system that has allowed people with absolutely no money to start up their own business and soon see profits rolling into their bank account.

The key ingredients to be successful in the drop shipping business is to make sure you have a little time to promote your products, and select a wholesale supplier who will provide good quality products and a reliable drop shipping service – it’s as easy as that!

Recommendations on Good eBay Wholesale Sources

:: Posted by Brian Glusman on 11-13-2009

When you first start on your eBay business venture you will most likely be intimidated by the range of opportunities that are possible. You will probably want to secure more products to sell, as the more products that you sell, the more money you will make!

Some sellers will go directly to the ‘wholesale’ listings on eBay to see what they can obtain to resell to their customers, but you really should exercise caution before doing this, as often these are items are marked up in price, and your buyers will be able to obtain from the same person you are.

In fact, the wholesale category in eBay is often just a way for stores to get rid of old items that no one wants, and so it can just be wasting your money in making these purchases.

Real eBay wholesale sources don’t actually peddle their products on eBay. That is because it isn’t profitable to do so; they are concerned with selling bulk orders to retail vendors, not individual items to singular customers. If you have done any eBay sourcing, supplier problems are the number one difficulty that sellers run into. There are many dodgy people out there who are looking to defraud the uninitiated by conning them into thinking they are getting a good price.

EBay wholesale items are what you need to succeed; they are the critical component that can make your business a success. You need to use eBay wholesale to expand your business, as without it your activities will become stagnant, as will your income.

As your business develops, you need to find a steady source of eBay wholesale products for you to offer to your customer. So how exactly do you find a reliable eBay business source? There are some simple things you can do which will help you on your quest.

Know what you want to sell. This makes it much easier for you to find the right eBay wholesale supplier, rather than constantly finding items which you think might do better than the last one. If you can choose a product range and try sticking to that category, you will make more sales from repeat business.

Decide whether you are going to sell at high price, or high volume. Either of these strategies can work, high volume means lower prices but more sales, or with high price you will make less sales but more profits. Which is going to work best for you?

Checkout the competition, know what they are selling and what their marketing strategy is. This makes it easier when you are on your eBay sourcing supplier hunt.

Hunt for a good eBay sourcing supplier. I can’t emphasize how important this is. Your eBay wholesale supplier is paramount to your business success.

Get selling! Your business is nothing without sales, so spend your time promoting your eBay wholesale products to potential customers, try different strategies and see what works best. Experience is the best thing you can have in an eBay business – so get going and have fun making all those sales!
